I moved to Calvert County from western New York in 2003. After working for the Niagara Falls Gazette for five years I was encouraged to pursue a Master’s Degree by the teachers I had met on the job. I returned to Rochester Institute of Technology to earn a Masters of Science in Teaching. My first teaching job was at Northern High School in 2003 where I taught Photography and Art & Design for five years. This was a great opportunity because I also hold a Bachelor’s in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology.
To pursue my passion for Art and Technology I transferred to the Career & Technology Academy in 2008 because as there was an opening in Graphic Communications. I taught students the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and how to prepare the files for a variety of print outputs. My students earned Print Education certifications from SkillsUSA and went on to pursue post-secondary education at two and four-year schools.
I have also taught the Summer Art Academy Camp for Calvert County Public Schools from 2003-2014. At camp, I have blended my passion for art and technology by teaching both cartoon art and computer art.
In the fall of 2016, I was hired at Leonardtown High School. I teach Crafts 1, Crafts 2, Commerical Art (Digital Art/Adobe Creative Suite), and Art 1 to high school students.
In my free time, my favorite subjects to photograph are people and nature. Postcards are my favorite way to share my images and continue blending in graphic design work with my photography. I also like spending time cooking, participating in yoga class, walking, reading fiction novels, and traveling with my husband
